Materials we use for sustainability
At Extraspace Solutions we strive wherever practicable to replace materials used in the construction of our modular buildings with those deemed less environmentally damaging.
We assist our clients to use “green” building materials, ecology blocks and recycled materials and other products that are non-toxic.
We can also help our customers to meet their environmental targets in terms of sourcing building materials that are extracted and manufactured locally near the building site, minimising the energy embedded in their transportation.
In order to be truly sustainable, we examine the materials we use in terms of their entire life-cycle, from the time they are harvested as raw materials to the time they may one day need to be disposed of – as reusable, renewable, recyclable materials in their own right.
Benefits of off-site construction
Extraspace Solutions is also an off-site construction specialist. For these projects, wherever practicable our building elements are manufactured off-site and delivered to the site. This maximises the environmental benefits in terms of:
- Minimising waste of energy, water and materials used during construction
- A controlled production environment, and less noise and dust on site
- Maximising recycling (because manufacture is in one location)
